The Iglesia de Santa Maria, commonly known as the Basilica of Santa Maria, is Alicante's earliest church, built on the site of a medieval shrine in the 14th century. Outside and inside, it displays the Catalan gothic architectural flair, with elements of rococo and baroque . The temple features opulent interiors, which is why it’s worth visiting.
